Barnardo’s Untold Stories: 10,000 voices

Nurturing conversations around identity in schools

This writing project was designed to celebrate the heritage of young people of African, Asian and Caribbean heritage – through stories of their own history and heritage. We partnered with Adanna Onuekwusi, a teacher by background with expertise in the impact of language, narratives and identity on wellbeing to deliver these workshops and bring the anthology to life, as well as 7 brilliant schools:

  • Bacons College
  • Bishop Stopford
  • Christ’s Hospital
  • Preston Muslim Girls
  • St Monicas
  • St Paul’s
  • St Saviour’s

The end product is an anthology of 70 incredible pieces of original writing (poetry or prose) produced by students who took part.
